A New Little Man Around Town {Charlottesville Newborn Photography}

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Meet Mr. S, a super cute and sleepy little man. This guy literally slept the entire session with a break or two from the action for a little snack… then… right back to sleep! Can I just say that I adore the sleepy ones? They make for excellent models! My favorite part of little Mr. S was his cute round belly. Welcome to the world little man! I look forward to watching you grow!

Don’t you just want to squish the cute belly?

I love this one… his smile is the cutest. This was my grandmother’s dough bowl that has been in my mother’s house for years. I’ve had my eye on it for quite some time and I finally got my hands on it Monday! Thanks Mom! Mr. S thought it was super cozy!

Posed vs. Candid.. A Photographer’s Debate {Waynesboro Family Photographer}

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

I would have to say that about 60% of my clients ask for candid family shots, yet when placing an order only about 10% of the prints ordered are of candid shots. I think this is a struggle for most custom photographers, so what do I do? And especially, what do I do when Mom wants posed and Dad wants candid.. Well, BOTH of course! :)

I debated back and forth about the title to this post. Option #2 was: 4 Kids and a Mommy. As you will see, Daddy was the biggest kid of them all! He did manage to struggle through the posed part of the session and then brought out the big guns for the candid moments! I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you guys, H Family!! It was a blast!

So here we go! I’ll start with posed:

Chris & Brandi.. June 13th, 2009 {Charlottesville Wedding Photographer}

Friday, June 19th, 2009

I get asked about every couple of months if I photograph weddings & my answer is typically “No.” I don’t completely rule them out, but for where I am in my life with young kids, I’m just not ready to give up most Saturdays that I would like to spend with my family (not to mention the amount of time it takes to process wedding pictures after the fact). Though, after much prodding, I was convinced to do a wedding last weekend by some friends! So, here I am… a wedding photographer?? Maybe not just yet, but keep an eye out… I will be doing some 2nd shooting with a local photographer a bit later in the Summer.

I feel so lucky to have been asked by Chris & Brandi to photograph the memories from their wedding day. I’ve known them for a couple of years now and was so excited to see them tie the knot. I showed up on time to take pics of the bride getting ready, but due to a sudden fall out of the sky, I ended up not being able to run into the church until the weather settled down a bit. Luckily Brandi waited for me a little bit before getting into her dress! The skies parted just in time for the wedding!! Congrats to you both and thanks for letting me be a part of it.

Hold on! Before the sneak peek, I’m proud to say that I was featured on NBC 29 for my new C’Ville Entremom Site! Check out the news clip if you get a chance!!

Look Who’s One.. A Cake Smash Session {Charlottesville Child Photography}

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

You may remember cutie patootie Mr. C… he was the smiley little newborn that won my Summer 2008 photo contest! As a prize, his family won a free session & Mommy decided that his 1 year birthday would be the best time!

So, without further ado, I give you Mr. C then:

We also took a little time to take some pics outdoors at my newest favorite location! Happy Birthday little man!

6 Day Old Sweet Baby J.. {Charlottesville Newborn Photography}

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I have been so excited to meet Mr. J. He is the newest addition to our neighborhood and the younger brother of one of my favorite models. We squeezed him in for a quick session on Thursday in my studio. I typically go to the baby’s home for newborn pics, but at mommy’s request, we held the session in my studio. I was excited to play with my lights at hand! Mr. J is one of the most chill babies that I have ever seen. I don’t think he cried once while here. He mostly just sat and took in all that there was to see and hear! You are a cutie pie Mr. J! His full head of hair is just too cute!

Mr. Blue Eyes.. {Charlottesville Baby Photographer}

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I got to meet with the cutest little 4 month old baby boy today. I would actually say he is more like a 6 month old… He is almost sitting (amazing!!) and has already found out how fun it is to play with his toes. With a little help, I was able to prop him up in a basket (without the help of a Bumbo, which I typically use at this age). Did I mention his eyes are to die for?? He is going to be a heartbreaker for sure! I’m so glad I broke out my green blanket for this shoot. I think the green really makes Mr. G’s eyes stand out! Thanks for all the smiles today Mr. Blue Eyes! I look forward to our 8 month session & watching you grow!
