Welcome to the Angie Brement Photography blog.  This is your best resource for client sneak peeks and a look at what I've been up to with my recent photography.

Currently, I wear many hats..

I'm a mother to 2 wonderful daughters Trudy & Josie (who often make an appearance on the blog).

I'm a Legwear Analyst and Planner for Hue.

I'm founder (and blogger) for a local group of Entrepreneur Moms called C'Ville Entremom.

February 28th, 2010

I just love pregnancy glow and this soon to be mama just shines. It’s so fun to see the excitement of 1st time parents.. the wonder and amazement as they take on a new journey in life. That is one of the things I love most about being a photographer… getting a little glimpse of the journey. *Almost* makes me want to do it again (I can’t believe I just wrote that!!) Congrats on your upcoming arrival. I can’t wait to meet your little man in a couple of months!

Snowed In! {Charlottesville Child Photographer}

February 13th, 2010

Well, we are finally digging out from our couped up, snowed in lifestyle! I saw the days inside as an opportunity to break out the camera and get some pictures of my girls. They often get ignored by the camera when I’m busy doing other sessions, so what a perfect time! I feel so blessed to have 2 wonderful and delightful little girls. I need to make it a point to photograph them more while they are so young! Enjoy!

Here is Trudy thinking about all the candy she will get b/c she is being good for Mommy to take her picture!

Ava Kathryn Is 1! {Charlottesville Event Photographer}

January 13th, 2010

Last weekend, I got to see another one of my sweet squishy newborns turn 1! I love seeing how much little ones grow throughout the year. You may remember Ava Katheryn.. she won cutest baby of 2009 on the blog! Ava’s party was held downtown at the Paramount Theater. It is such a beautiful venue. I never knew we had such a gem on the downtown mall! Little Ava enjoyed every minute of the limelight and the party was a blast. Thanks for letting me celebrate with you!

Welcome 2010! Photo Booth Style {Charlottesville photography}

January 2nd, 2010

Happy New Years everyone! I am looking forward to all of the opportunities and experiences that 2010 will bring to my photography and my life! I decided to end 2009 with something new: I set up a photo booth at a New Years Eve party. I asked friends to bring fun props and my good friend, Shetal, showed up with the motherload! The photo booth was a definite hit to the party and the pictures got more and more interesting as the night progressed. Enjoy! This was so much fun!!

I was very excited when Elisa Bricker of Elisa B Photography asked me to come to her home and take pictures of her newborn boy Mr. L. He was such a little sweetheart. Even though is is a bit older then I prefer for newborn pics, he was a champ and we got some sleepy pics from him. It was great to meet you Mr. L.. I’m sure you will be a well photographed little man!

Santa Claus Came To Town {Crozet Christmas Photography}

December 7th, 2009

I would like to give a big thank you to all of the families that showed up to support Toy Lift and had their pictures taken with Santa. The event was a huge success and it was so heartwarming to see all the children’s faces light up when they saw Santa.. Well, all except the 2 year old crowd. :) The Event raised $340 and over 25 toys for the area Toy Lift. I would also like to give a big Thank You to Marcia McGee of Trailside Coffee for hosting the event and Andrea Sarate of Old Trail Village for organizing the event.

A Note to Parents: I am processing the pictures in order of sitting time. My goal is to have pictures to everyone within the week. Thank you for your patience. We had over 50 families show up for the event.

What is the Toy Lift?

The Kids Lift Foundation believes every child is entitled to a happy and enriched childhood. Our mission is to support local families through volunteerism, community cooperation, morale building, and educational tools. We seek to provide that support through Toy Lift, Books Lift Kids, and Kids and Cops Holiday Shop.

The purposes and objectives of the Foundation are to:

* Provide toys and books to area children ages newborn through 8th grade
* Seek charitable contributions of money, toys, books and other needed items
* Seek volunteer assistance from the community
* Not interfere with any governmental or community agencies already assisting area children

The Foundation’s service area includes the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Nelson, and Orange.

Why should I support Toy Lift and what makes Kids Lift Foundation different?

Toy Lift is entirely volunteer run. There is not one paid employee as part of the Kids Lift Foundation. We start with a volunteer board of nine people that work all year. We add another 10 volunteers who serve as advisors from July through Toy Lift. Then we host hundreds of volunteers from the community during the event itself.

All our toys stay local. The families we serve come from Albemarle, Buckingham, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Nelson, and Orange. The toys we collect from the Toy Lift event go directly back to those families. None of our toys are sent to Richmond, Lynchburg or other locations. We do allow other local charities to take advantage of the toys we have left after we have taken care of the families on our list.

Our selection criterion allows us to identify families that might otherwise be missed. We do not use the financial documentation that other organizations do. Instead we require all our families to be sponsored by a school. We rely on the recommendation of a school counselor or social worker that a family is in need of support. This allows us to identify those families that may not already be part of “the system,” but may be experiencing circumstances that make this year particularly difficult.

For example, a family that has had a parental death this year and mom couldn’t even imagine trying to pull together Christmas might not meet any financial criteria, but the school personnel that know this family can identify them for us. They can also help us find those families who may have a very recent job loss, an accident or crisis such as a fire, or a sudden family burden.

For more information on Toy Lift, please visit their site: http://www.kidslift.org. Also check out this entry on Real Central VA for more ways to volunteer.
